New Years Eve street party returns

The city of Long Beach is bringing back its New Years celebration on Pine Avenue downtown. Starting at 8 pm on Dec. 31, Pine Avenue will be closed to cars between First Street and Broadway. The festivities include live music on an outdoor stage and fireworks at midnight. Nearby restaurants are offering dinner specials. “It’s just a great way to end the year,” says John Morris, the owner of Smooth’s, “and we’ll get everybody sold out.” More info.
