Swell is up and so is rip current warning

Surfer, photographer and Seal Beach Daily twitter follower iDuano — aka Duane Uyeda — posted this sweet pix of this morning’s surf at Seal Beach and said of the swell, “It looked more like winter at Seal Beach this morning, rather than summer!”

It’s true, surf is up and so is a rip current warning from the National Weather Service, according to OC Register ScienceDude Gary Robbins. “The National Weather Service has issued an advisory saying that rip currents will be strong at many beaches today, posing a threat to inexperienced surfers and swimmers. The currents are being caused by snappy onshore winds that will pick up in the afternoon,” he writes at ocregister.com.
