Media mania: Zeppelin Eureka goes to Neverland, cancels reinstates Queen Mary show
Update, July 1 3:24 p.m., another change of plans: Airship Ventures has reinstated its plans for a first-of-its-kind parachute jump tomorrow at the Queen Mary Event Park. Schedules were tossed-about this morning as the company arranged to ferry media covering a reported Michael Jackson memorial to Neverland Ranch. This afternoon, when word came Jackson’s body would not be moved to the ranch, Airship Adventures “un-cancelled” its parachute event. More details on the event here.
The first-of-its-kind parachute jump from Zeppelin Eureka — scheduled for Thursday, July 2 above the Queen Mary Event Park — has been canceled. Instead, the airship will ferry media to cover the fan frenzy at Michael Jackson’s Neverland Ranch in Los Olivos, according company spokesperson Christine Eastman.
“Things have definitely changed,” she said. The news helicopters and reporters originally slated to cover the jump event are also headed to Neverland to cover the cortege and that Airship Adventures left with a made-for-tv media event without media to cover it.
The parachute drop may be scheduled for another time in the Zeppelin’s stay in our area, which is expected to last through July 7. The July 4th Fireworks Flight and other “flightseeing” tours are still on the schedule.
