SB holds workshop on river bike path
Calling local cyclists: Do you have an opinion about the San Gabriel River Bikeway?
On Sept. 10, the city of Seal Beach is holding a community workshop to discuss improvements for the bike trail and the nearby area at the beach. The project include repaving the bike path from the First Street beach parking lot to the 405 Freeway; improving the First Street parking lot; and remodeling the First Street restroom next to River’s End restaurant.
The San Gabriel River Bike Trail winds its way from the sand in Seal Beach to the Los Angeles County community of Azusa. It’s a 70-mile round trip.
The city is paying for work on the trail’s Seal Beach end with a grant from state’s Rivers and Mountains Conservancy. “Funding restrictions through the State had caused the City to place this project on hold recently,” says City Manager David Carmany. “However, with portions of funding back in place, the City is pleased to bring this project back online and would like to gather input and feedback from the community and those who utilize the San Gabriel River Bike Trail.”
The workshop is at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 10 in the Seal Beach City Council Chambers at 211 8th St.
