Seal Beach family helps to raise $14K in benefit walk for blood cancer research

Bobbie-Doyle-Michelle-LindenmuthBobbie Doyle of Seal Beach (left) — whose 5-month-old daughter Evelyn died of Leukemia on August 17 — joined Michelle Lindenmuth and other members of “Team Doyle” to participate in the August 22 Light the Night walk for blood cancer research. The team of 39 walkers raised nearly $14,000, according Jim Graves of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

The 11th Annual Light the Night fundraiser was held at Angel Stadium, drawing nearly 6,500 participants and raising $555,000, Graves said. The yearly event — in which teams of sponsored walkers circle Angel Stadium carrying illuminated balloons — is sponsored by the Orange County/Inland Empire Chapter of the society. It is part of a national fundraising campaign with proceeds going to research of therapies and cures for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma.
