Main Street’s garden of wishful thinking

rainbarrel
Just in time for the winter rainy season, Brita’s Old Town Gardens on Main Street is selling these nifty 55-gallon rainwater barrels for your Seal Beach backyard. “Excellent for seedlings!” the sign says.

Great idea, though ScienceDude Gary Robbins notes that it may be a while until we see any rain this month. “Orange County will remain in severe drought at least another couple of weeks,” he reports.

I love this! Been saving rain water for ever. These look like really nice barrels. I even used my bathwater to water the (small) lawn all summer and my water usage was 50% of what it was last year!!! Amazing how some of my neighbors daily sprinklers are always going and running down the street. Maybe between all of us we’re breaking even?????
