A double dip of good works: Paris cleans up and serene Marines collect Toys for Tots

Kim Masoner and Save Our Beach helped a budding environmentalist make her green dream come true on Saturday, when five-year-old Paris Blanco hosted her own beach clean-up in Long Beach. More than 100 people responded to Paris’ invitation to the cleanup. The group included classmates, family and teachers at Helen Keller School in Lynwood. Read more about Paris’ cool project here. Save Our Beach will help organize clean-ups for businesses, organizations and individuals. Contact kim@saveourbeach.org. Photos courtesy Save Our Beach. Above: Paris Celebrates on the beach. Kudos! In recognition of Save Our Beach’s 10 years of tireless efforts to preserve, protect, and restore the coastline for future generations, Senator Tom Harman will present the group with a “Certificate Of Senatorial Recognition” on Monday at the City Council Meeting in Seal Beach at 7 p.m.
On Friday, the Marines were stationed at Serenity Salon for a toy drive and bake sale to benefit Toys for Tots. SBD friend Duane Uyeda was on the scene. “I felt they had wonderful results for it being their first Toys For Tots event; they not only completely filled two toy donation boxes, they also generated over $300 in cash donations for their cause,” he said.
